November is Diabetes Awareness Month

The month of November is Diabetes Awarness Month and Active Spine and Joint is here to provide additional information on the ways that diabetes can affect your overall health and lead to the development of diabetic neuropathy.

Diabetes can damage your nerves over time, making it harder for the nerves to carry messages between the brain and other parts of the body. The nerve damage is called neuropathy. For every person the pain and symptoms of neuropathy can be different but the most common include

  • Numbness

  • Tingling

  • Electrical Shock

  • Disrupted Sleep

  • Balance Problems

  • Sensitive Skin

  • Cramping in legs and feet

  • Loss of hot and cold sensation

  • Muscle Weakness

If you suffer from any of these conditions, you may have neuropathy and may have a misdiagnosis. If you have any of the symptoms associated with neuropathy and also meet these conditions, let Active Spine & Joint see if you are a candidate for our Neuropathy Program.

Symptoms of neuropathy may develop slowly and go unnoticed at first which makes treatment harder. If you are having any of these symtoms and can't seem to get relief, give us a call.

Numbness is never normal. Those with diabetes may suffer from complications like nerve damage, which could prevent you from feeling the pain of an injury in your feet. The practitioners at Active Spine and Joint can help you take control of your neuropathy symptoms before they get worse. Once the degeneration of the nerves begins, it will not stop.

Even if you have been told that there is nothing more that can be done to help with neuropathy symptoms, there are treament options available.

Ask us about our insurance-covered program and how you can get started. We'll get you out of pain and active again.
